Abuse of Power

People endure many types of abuse daily. Some are aware of them, others are not. But abuse doesn’t occur within confines of romantic relationships..some of them are hidden maltreatment that isn’t always easy to detect in workplaces or public events. These types are known for manipulation, control, or boundary imbalances or disorder, it often accompanies other forms of abuse such as verbal or emotional. Being abused is not uncommon, in fact it can come from prominent places like a spouse to the more not so obvious, like your boss.

Many people pass off verbal abuse because it isn’t always so cut and dry. There are some evident examples, like a coworker gossiping and creating narratives behind the scenes, others use gaslighting which is also not always easy to identify. Therefore, bystander intervention trainings and quarterly workshops as forms of continues education might be one of the ways forward to address this new reality.
